The Goanna V2 base is here!

I have been getting a steady flow of questions from customers who like me want to take their BBQs back to wood fire basics. That was the whole premise behind the design of the Barramundi BBQ.

Those that had already bought a Barramundi BBQ from Yagoona now had the tool they had been searching for, to cook truly great BBQs over natural wood fire and achieve that elusive classic smokey BBQ flavour. No chemically enhanced smokey marinades using MSG required!

Until now though there has not been a base made by Yagoona that held the firebowl and the Barramundi BBQ and a height that was comfortable for cooking.
Well it is here now. The Goanna V2 base.

As with all Yagoona products, looking cool was the most important part of the design.
After all the bowl and the base usually stay in your garden as decorative objects.

The assembly method also took some attention to get it to be as simple and hassle free as possible. I have had to sacrifice for this product one of my adversions which is the use of nuts and bolts. The 4 panels of the Goanna base are held together internally with M4 hex head bolts.
I toyed with the idea of making clips from laser cut steel plate, but the expense of this together with the fact that assembly would not be any easier and could even be more difficult!
This finally pushed me to use nuts and bolts.
The dissasembled transportable size is 1/4 the footprint of the assembled unit which makes transport and logistics lighter on the environment.

Being simply a hollow box means that if you use this base on a nice lawn of grass, there is still a danger of some hot ash falling on the ground and burning the grass.
Not yet available for sale but on the drawing board is a protection plate that inserts into the Goanna base. It will catch any ash that falls through the water drain hole, while allowing any water that falls through to run off safely. A set and forget solution. The was everything should be designed!
